My Blood for Another: A DeMolay Way of Life - A blood letting activity - July 24, 2011 9:00am Davao Masonic Center, V. Mapa St., Davao City

DeMOLAY SPIRIT LIVES ON

The DeMolay spirit of volunteerism and public service had it again.

Last Sunday, July 24, 2011, the Feliciano IñigoDeMolay Alumni Chapter, NO.1 (FIDAC No. 1)/Feliciano Iñigo Alumni Chapter, Inc., (FIACI) in cooperation with the Davao Masonic Center Foundation Incorporated (DMCFI) and the Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC) conducted a preliminary Bloodletting Activity entitled: “My Blood for Another: A DeMolay Way of Life” participated by our brethren and held at the Davao Masonic Center (DMC), V. Mapa St., Davao City.

Brethren came and submitted themselves for examination and inquiry by a PNRC Physician. Unfortunately, a lot of our brethren were denied the privilege of donating their blood for good cause since they had been travelling out of the country early this year for business or pleasure. Anyhow, as expected, we DeMolays still managed to obtain the number of donors required by the PNRC. We DeMolays indeed offered and gave our blood for another.

As a result of our brethren reaching out to the community, the event was still considered a successful and fulfilling community activity. In fact, the PNRC requested us DeMolays to hold another Bloodletting Activity this coming December, which I believe we can do before our Annual Reunion. This time, we will again donate and make sure to bring more friends, relatives and Good Samaritans willing to donate their blood for a good cause.

In another light of the event, the DeMolays not only managed to pull off a Bloodletting Activity, but also a successful DeMOLAY FEED THE CHILDREN ACTIVITY at Barangay 12-B, V. Mapa St., Davao City. Not only did DeMolays give their blood for another but also gave their services and opened their hearts for another.

After the Bloodletting Activity, DeMolays gathered together and went to the said Barangay to implement the DeMOLAY FEED THE CHILDREN ACTIVITY in the said community. Truly, the smiles on the children’s faces and the warmth in our brethren’s hearts in giving food to the children in the society, is a picture worth a million words.

Indeed, nothing can compare to the Spirit of DeMolay. The spirit of our Order keeps on glowing as the 7 candles are lit to shine even in the darkest of nights. For the brethren who are in attendance and for those who wish to have been there on the said memorable date, but were unable to come as previous commitments prevented them to do so, I give my thanks and congratulations.

Also, to the Active DeMolays, headed by MC Leo Otero and SC Marlou Cagas, we give our congratulations and gratitude. The presence of the Active DeMolays will surely guarantee the DeMolay Alumni Program and Projects will continue and further be enhanced by their presence.

Above all, SALUTE TO DeMOLAY FOR THE SPIRIT THAT LIVES WITHIN US, LIVES ON.

(Special mention to Brother Lemuel Clark Camayang for the sumptuous lugaw, Brother Bimbo Calolot for the Tarpaulin, Brother Eric Saludo, Brother Al Karlus Peloton, and Brother Gary Datuon for the early birds who extended early assistance, Bros. Stephen Angala, Jan Yap, Jac-B, Justin, Kim, and all brethren, though not mentioned, who are indeed worthy of commendation).
